"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Matthew 28:18-20
Peninsula is BIG on missions. Why? It's simple -- We desire that every person on Earth has a chance to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. We support local and international missions by praying, giving, and going:
Praying
Oswald Chambers stated, "Prayer does not fit us for the greater works; prayer IS the greater work." Peninsula puts a strong emphasis on the "greater work" of prayer. We desire to be a church of praying people who are impacting a lost world.
Giving
Peninsula is consistently among the top Southern Baptist churches giving to local and international missions The church is committed to this giving through the Cooperative Program as a percentage of regular offering, special missions offerings like the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, NC Baptist Children's Home Thanksgiving Offering, and many others. This faithfulness in giving is a testimony to Peninsula's commitment to reaching and ministering to people all over the world.
Going
Peninsula sends out missionaries every year. We go into
our community and do service projects for the elderly and sick. We go to areas
at home and abroad that have been devastated by natural disaster
to help feed the hungry and rebuild homes and lives. We go all around the world
to build new churches. We go to other countries to spread the name of Jesus
Christ though big outreach events like Vacation Bible School.
In the past year Peninsula has served in Brazil, Kenya, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, St. John (Virgin Islands), across the country--Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, Texas-- in disaster relief, construction and evangelism projects, as well as in multiple projects in North Carolina and in the community in order to touch people's lives with the Gospel. A part of our missions ministry is to open doors so people can have hands-on involvement in the work of missions.
At Peninsula, we are about GOING.
